Story

The wine
Deeply rooted in the stony hillsides of the Southern Rhône Valley, the vineyard of Rasteau is clearly under Mistral influence. Our typical grape varieties ripened perfectly thanks to our warm climate, and exceptional terroir. A mix of rolled pebbles and strong presence of clay and marl that provide perfect growing conditions for our old vines.
Terroir
Hillside vineyards on clay and limestone terraces covered with rolled pebbles.
In the vineyard
Manual harvest and sorting of the grapes yield 36hl/ha. Short bush pruning, trellised bush and Cordon de Royat pruning. Density : 4000 vines/ha. Average age of vines : 50 years.
Vinification
Destemmed grapes. Vatting with pigeage, 20 days of maceration.
Maturing
About 30% of the blend is matured for 12 months in dedicated oak barrels.

Grenache noir : 35%
Mourvèdre : 35%
Syrah : 30%

Tasting notes
A deep garnet red color, aromas of undergrowth, leather, spices and candied fruit with softened tannins in a powerful, well-balanced blend.
Food pairing
Roasted game, ravioli with truffles and foie gras, duck magret, goat cheeses.
