Presentation

Presentation
Belonging to the Surle family, Domaine La Font de Joseph has 10 hectares of vines on terraces and slopes not far from the village of Beaumes-de-Venise. Generations of the same family have tended vines here for over 70 years.
Terroir
This Muscat is grown on sand, marl, and clay-limestone soil, which accounts for its personality.
Vinification
The Muscat grapes at Domaine La Font de Joseph are picked when perfectly ripe and sorted by hand. After brief skin contact, the juice is delicately extracted with a pneumatic winepress and put into vat. Alcoholic fermentation takes place at low temperature (12-14°C) and is stopped by fortification in a single go to retain Muscat’s incomparable fruit. This delicate, but essential operation is often challenging when the must has reached a sufficient degree of sweetness (approximately 110 g/l of sugar). It can even be done at night if this is the best time to do so.

Advice

Serving
Best served at a temperature of 6°C and will age for 10 years.
Tasting
Made from Muscat à Petits Grains, this vin doux naturel has a lovely golden straw-yellow colour. The nose of tropical fruit develops with aeration to reveal a more complex bouquet of honey and beeswax.
Food pairings
Ideal with foie gras, cheeses, tarte tatin, or rich chocolate cake.
